Professor Tony Robards OBE

After first and higher degrees in Biology at University College London, Tony came to York in 1966 to pursue an academic career in biological research. In 1996 he was appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor for External Relations at the University of York, a post he held for eight years. In 2001, Tony was appointed the first HSBC Chair of Innovation at the University of York. Tony’s commitment to creating links between the University and external organisations has led to a wide range of business activities including Past-President of the York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, Joint Executive of Science City York, Chair of York Science Park Limited and Venturefest York Limited and Non-executive Chairman of YorkTest Group Limited. Tony is currently Chairman of Yorkshire Cancer Research.
