Raman Mapping

 

Raman Mapping of a Pharmaceutical Tablet

Raman Instrument

Equipment: Renishaw Raman Microscope with Sacher 780nm, 150mW laser.

Sample: Aspirin (Blue)/Paracetamol (Green)/Caffeine (Red) tablet, sectioned using Leica microtome.

Raman Map: Square arrays, 100x100 points, at various step sizes (5µm, 20µm, 60µm).

Recorded Spectra: median of three 1s exposure time spectra. x50 microscope objective.

Analysis:Main components identified, and their Raman spectra shown.

Data from the tablet were fitted to a linear combination of these spectra.

Colour-coded maps showing the distribution of the components are illustrated.
