What makes Avacta's expert witness service unique?
In a word; experience. As expert witnesses, Dr Kurt Baldwin and his colleagues have an in-depth understanding of the techniques needed to analyse and establish the composition of any drug product, including:
- Raman spectroscopy
- Fluorescence spectroscopy
- Spectroscopic mapping
- Ultra-microscopy (electron and atomic force)
- Optical microscopy
Moreover, having provided expert witness services in high profile patent cases in the United States, Canada and Europe, they back-up their technical skills with the ability to deliver findings effectively.
Dr Baldwin has worked on numerous patent litigation cases in the pharmaceutical sector for almost a decade, Kurt started his career under the tutelage of Prof. D. Batchelder (a renowned expert in the field). Kurt has presented evidence in depositions in the USA, cross examinations in Canada, and in court appearances in Europe. Much of this evidence has focused on Raman spectroscopic measurements of litigious samples, the subsequent interpretation and presentation of the results, and describing the technique and fundamental principles of this physical to the court. He is probably the most experienced person in the world at examining Raman spectra from formulations of a particular block-buster anti-depressant. However, his experience is not limited to this one product - Kurt's expertise and knowledge has been applied to various other products at different stages in their litigation.
